CAPT'S LOG:JUST BECAUSE IT'S RED IT DOES NOT MEAN THE CRAB IS HOME!!!This is a featured page

When you go to set your gear most Capts go by the survey map.The survey map is 5 months old so what shows good crab then may mean NO CRAB NOW!! Especially in the light red area's i have found 1st hand it showed the crab was there and i set my gear there man how wrong i was. Low numbers boat breakdowns & crew injuries to boot just capped it all.Surveys are good but not taking into consideration that they are 5 months old could destroy a good season to one of fines and possible bankruptcy then it is GAME OVER!! So all i can say it choose your areas well. Remember the KING CRAB move in a southerly direction every season how far is not really known just that they move south.
