The grinding 2006 Red King Crab fishing marathon comes to a close Capt Sig Hansen and the Northwestern crew finish a 30-hour grind and steam back to port while Capt Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie a.k.a "THE COMEBACK KID" returns to Dutch injury free.

Fifteen hundred fishermen have coverage on Dutch Harbor Alaska,for the beginning of the Alaskan King Crab season.Each man is here to stake his claim on the 14,267,000 pounds of crab and the chance to earn a yrs wages in just a week.

MAY-23rd--3:00PM LADY LUCK

After a long night of baiting and setting gear ,the fisherman anxiously await the Capt's call to begin fishing.The first pot pulled of the season sets the mood.The early loser agonize over strategy hoping to make up for a lost catch.

MAY 23rd--4:00PM BEAT THE CLOCK

It's hour 42of the 96 hr season and every Capt from the bottom of the bait bins to the computers of the wheelhouse feels the pressure Alaskan Department of Fish & Game announces an early closure to the season.Each boat has 24hrs to pull the pots they have in the water out and every one of the final pots count.With half a day left in the King Crab Season ,the crews race against the clock to get as much crab as possible .As the race to unload begins,Minutes can mean the difference between unloading immediately or waiting in the harbor for days.
It was not bad enough that Capt Coleman Anderson had a bad season as repairs upon repairs.Then there was the to little deckhands that just PI**ED me off the little PUNKS were WILLIE (OVARIES)OVALLES and his little but buddy never stopped complaining.It is what i seen when they offloaded after 7 days they had alot of deadloss they didn't have any bin boards in so the crab got slammed around but there would not have been that much but LITTLE WILLIE OVARIES took a cod fish stabbed it and threw it in the crab tank and all the dead crab came from the dead fish little ovaries stabbed and threw in the tank and it cost the boat $25 thousand bucks i said i'd be damned if he got any money at all i would have told him his pay was the dead crabs because of his dead fish joke and if i'd been Capt Anderson i'd of FIRED HIM on the SPOT!!

SATURDAY MAY 23rd--5:00PM DEAD OF WINTER

It's the dead of winter in Dutch Harbor ,Alaska, where the daysare a mere 6hours long.The forecast for crab fishing is cold and dangerous.But Opillo crab season is just about to begin and 171 boats begin the long journey to find them.
